When the 2021 season began, who had Jon Gruden as the first coach to be the one who’d get the axe?

While he resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, Gruden was basically forced out after the e-mails that leaked out showed he made a lot of derogatory comments that ended up costing Gruden a $10 million a year head coaching job.

So now that the first head coaching casualty happened, who is the next head coaching casualty or casualties?

Let us take a look at the head coaches whose seats are feeling warm.

Mike Zimmer, Minnesota Vikings

When this initially started, Zimmer was 1-2, but since, the Vikings have improved to 3-3. The Vikings showed a lot,of heart by knocking off the Carolina Panthers in overtime to get the win on Sunday.

Zimmer is extremely well-respected around the league and it would be hard to fathom that he would be the next one to go.

It’s safe to say that for the time being, Zimmer is off the hot seat.

Temperature: Cold

Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions

With the Jaguars getting their first win on Sunday, the Detroit Lions remain winless and were thoroughly embarrassed by the Bengals.

Even still, the Lions are winless with a first-year head coach who is trying. Dan Campbell even hinted at benching Jared Goff, which is showing that he remains in control and competitive.

Campbell will get a pass. Winning a few games will help though.

Temperature: Slight chill

Urban Meyer, Jacksonville Jaguars

Well, the good news is that the Jaguars are off the winless skid and got their first victory for Meyer on Sunday.

Is it enough to deflect the incidents that took place back in Ohio a few weeks ago involving a woman who was seen grinding all over him?

It still remains to be seen if Meyer will even make it through the rest of the season. But hey, at least Meyer can say he got a win in the NFL.

Temperature: Hot

Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers

This is the newest addition to the hot seat, as Shanahan hasn’t exactly had the best tenure with the 49ers.

Ever since blowing a 21-10 lead in the Super Bowl and losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers are 8-13 since and are 2-3 so far.

If the 49ers don’t start winning more games soon, they could grow tired of Shanahan and look to someone else.

Temperature: Slight simmer

Matt Nagy, Chicago Bears

Everyone was convinced that Nagy would be the one getting the axe. Then the Bears started winning games.

They are 3-3 and have made Justin Fields the starter. That has helped. Although, running into Aaron Rodgers and the Packers didn’t help.

Fans still think that Nagy isn’t the future. He might need a playoff berth to save himself.

Temperature: Medium

Joe Judge, New York Giants

The fan base has completely turned on him after an embarrassing 38-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Many are seeing Judge as another failed Bill Belichick assistant whose bound to get fired. He’s 7-15 as the head coach and it won’t be getting any better for him with a tough schedule ahead and players hurt.

But even if he had them, it wouldn’t matter. Judge is a dead coach walking.
