NFL insider Tom Pelissero broke news from an NFL memo that stated “If a game cannot be rescheduled in 2021 due to a covid outbreak among unvaccinated players, the team with the outbreak will FORFEIT and be credited with a loss for playoff seeding”. This is absolutely huge. The NFL is serious about getting players and staff vaccinated so there are no outbreaks. Last year we saw games get postponed, played with no active quarterbacks, and depleted rosters. Notoriously the Thanksgiving game between the Ravens and Steelers that was postponed due to outbreaks on each side but started with the Ravens, many Steelers and fans alike felt that the Ravens should have taken an L since they were to blame. Deeper than a loss on your record, teams will also be punished financially and individual players can be disciplined as well.

Goodell is playing zero games with guys like Cole Beasely who will probably retire after today’s announcement. I agree with the tough decisions to lay down the law. As someone who has been fully vaccinated since April, I see no problem with making players and staff get their shots to ensure us a great season that’s normal as possible. I will be in attendance at M&T Bank Stadium when the Packers come to town in December and I don’t want that game to be ruined because some anti vaxxer didn’t want to follow directions. I strongly recommend Pfizer because streets say that Johnson & Johnson can’t stop a damn cold.
