We are back with an rendition of the NFL 2020 Regular Season Prediction Series!

In this post, we will see what’s in store for the NFC South division.

It will be a great battle between legendary quarterbacks, tough defenses, and fast offenses. This is shaping up to be an interesting divisional race, let’s see what happen here in 2020…

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta is in a bit of a crossroads this year.

They still have a majority of their overall core from their 2016 Super Bowl run, but they have not gotten near the divisional round since the 2017 season.

The Falcons are hoping their newfound playmakers in former Baltimore Ravens tight end Hayden Hurst and first-round pick cornerback A.J. Terrell can contribute to the team’s success this season.

This is considered a make-or-break for the Falcons. If they don’t reach their ultimate goal, they will likely get started with a rebuild very soon.

Carolina Panthers

And speaking of rebuilds, the Carolina Panthers basically have entered one of their own.

Between adding Baylor’s Matt Rhule as their new head coach and going all defense in this year’s draft, they certainly have low expectations.

For their offense, they are relying Teddy Bridgewater as their quarterback, along with new wide receivers Robby Anderson and Pharaoh Cooper to produce as well.

This season has a very low ceiling in regards to the Panthers’ season as a whole, but we will be watching for progress.

Carolina’s youth on defense will be a key watching point as well, but that’s what rebuilds seems like—see if the youth can produce nicely and predict if their future will be bright.

2020 is going to be step 1 for Carolina, and baby steps is sometimes the best way to go.

New Orleans Saints

The ray of championship contention is getting thinner and thinner by the day for the team down by the bayou.

After getting eliminated in three straight playoff years in crushing fashion, the New Orleans Saints have, at least this season, to go for a legitimate run at the Super Bowl.

There are interesting questions and drama around the Saints offense, such as Brees’ age and political stances, and the recent Alvin Kamara trade rumors.

Whether or not it will effect their play on the field, New Orleans appears to be locked and loaded once again.

There are projected to be in the playoffs again, but they are also expected to go deep in it. Just make sure to watch out for anything that comes their opposite ways.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This offseason was the possibly the most buzzworthy and hyped events that could have happened for the Tampa Bay areas.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been transformed into new quarterback Tom Brady’s town virtually overnight; but he did not come alone. Brady’s favorite target in tight end Rob Gronkowski has also joined him with the Bucs.

Those two stars will both add into perhaps one of the explosive offenses in the league. His weapons all will include newly signed running back Leonard Fournette and his tandem back Ronald Jones II and wide receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.

The defense is a little bit iffy even with the emergence of pass rushers Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul, and second-year linebacker Devin White, but those can be fixed with Bruce Arians as their coach.

It appears that they have a deep playoff team on paper, but we will see how they will against further competition before we call them that. They got a couple years to make something happen with Brady now, so let’s see if the plan works or not. Some think they will, some don’t.

Season Predictions:

  1. New Orleans Saints 11-5**
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-6
  3. Atlanta Falcons 7-9
  4. Carolina Panthers 3-13

Like the NFC North, this division will be tight, two-team race from start to finish. But I believe that the Saints will squeak Brady’s Bucs for the divisional crown with an 11-5 record.
