The year of 2022 has been extremely difficult on professional athletes, both active and retired. It seems that there have been more deaths in professionals sports in 2022 than any other year.

The most recent bad news comes out of the New York Yankees organization. It was announced that on September 21st that former New York Yankees shortstop Tom Carroll had passed away.

In other New York Yankees news, retired player and Hall of Famer and current Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter recently discussed how he was hoping to turn the Marlins back into a winning franchise.

“I expect this offseason to be active for us, whether that’s talking with free agents or exploring some other moves,” Jeter said. “But for the first time, really since we’ve been here as an ownership group, I expect to be pretty active — or I should say, have active conversations. There’s two sides to it.”
