The New York Jets have fired Head Coach Robert Saleh, as per Adam Schefter. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will be club’s interim head coach, as per the NFL Network.
The Jets are coming off a 24-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Their record is now 2-3 on the season.
The Jets are an organization of dysfunction. Firing your Head Coach 5 games into the season, is a panic move.
The Jets hired Saleh on January 14, 2021. He has a record of 20-36. They went 7-10 in both in 2022 and ’23.
The Jets acquired QB Aaron Rodgers ahead of the 2023 season to be the savior of their team. Four plays into the 2023 season, Rodgers went down with a season ending injury.
The 2024 season has been marred by conflicts between Rodgers and Saleh. The Head Coach threw his QB under the bus on Sunday and that comes after Rodgers taking a shot at the coach holding players accountable.
Saleh had one season remaining on his contract. The Jets front office handcuffed Saleh to megabust QB Zach Wilson.
The front office also mishandled a trade for former Eagles Star pass rusher Haason Reddick, who has yet to play a down for them.
The Jets will take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday night with a chance to tie for top spot in the AFC East with a win.
