With this being the final year of his rookie contract with the New York Giants, Evan Engram’s time with the team is at the end.

Engram has run his course with the team and considering how unpopular he is with the fan base right now, there is no better time to explore trading him than now.

Ever since being drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Engram has been that frustrating player because everyone knows how good he is. He’s too fast for linebackers to cover and he’s too big for cornerbacks to cover. He should be an elite talent in the NFL when it comes to tight ends.

Yet, he is not, and most of that is on Engram.

He started his career with Eli Manning. And granted, it was Manning at the end of his career, but playing with a future Hall of Fame talent like Eli Manning isn’t a bad way to start your career, especially with a quarterback who loves throwing to a tight end.

Daniel Jones has also enjoyed throwing to him; his first passing touchdown in 2019 was to Engram.

But Engram has made too many mistakes and blunders to outweigh the potential he has, at least, not on a Giants team that is currently 0-3 and headed for the Top 10 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Giants already have two tight ends on the roster who are more than capable of filling the void at tight end if Engram is to depart this season; veteran Kyle Rudolph and Kaden Smith.

With Engram’s rookie contract set to expire, the Giants likely won’t get much for him by the November 2 trade deadline. As talented as Engram is, he’s an under-performing, often-injured player who has fumbling issues and will drop a lot of passes.

With that said, Engram is still 27-years-old and can help a team who feels like they can work on his game. Quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson would love to have someone like Engram on their team and catching passes from them.

This is an easy decision to make for a Giants team that needs draft picks for next year and to focus on 2022; Engram should be traded to help a contender.
