New Week, Same Old Lions

Spread the love

Stopped me if you heard this one before, the Lions had a double-digit lead and lost the game. The only difference from week one to this week is that the collapse came in the first half. The Lions were up 14-3 after one quarter. Then in typical Lions fashion, the Packers would score 31 unanswered points on the Lions.

The Lions defense looked downright pathetic today, especially the run defense. The Packers rushed for 259 yards today. Aaron Jones rushed for 168 yards, and two touchdowns, including this 75-yard touchdown that started off the second half.

Not only did Aaron Jones have his way with the Lions on the ground, but he also torched them in the passing game. Leading the Packers in receiving with 68 yards, one touchdown, and had the catch of the day.

The Lions defense was atrocious for most of the game, which has been consistent in Matt Patricia’s three years in Detroit. It wasn’t just the defense, the offense became stagnant after the first, only scoring one more touchdown throughout the game. The Lions are now 0-2 and they haven’t won a game in 328 days. With a daunting schedule in front of them, the Lions could be looking at 0-4 going in the bye week. Matt Patricia was already on the hot seat going into the season, well now his seat is on fire.

These last few years under Matt Patricia have been just flat out shitty. The dude was supposed to get us over the hump and he has won nine games in 34 games, not good to say the least. The Lions were supposed to at least contend for the playoffs this year and now are just a few losses away from full out tank mode. Time for some much-needed changes to be made.
