Necro Butcher confirmed this week what many of his friends and fans feared earlier this year: he is ill. He posted on his social media that the test results finally came back and he has Stage III Hodgkin lymphoma.

He looked gaunt and frail in what appeared to be his final match back in January losing to Shalak at an ICW show in New Jersey.

Necro was a regular in IWA Mid-South, CZW, Ring of Honor, Insane Wrestling Federation (Detroit), and XICW (Detroit) during his career which began in 1998. He feuded with Sabu and Abdullah the Butcher in Detroit in the IWF and was managed by Chris “The Fly” Monroe.

He’s a former Insane Wrestling Federation Champion, a former two-time XICW Champion, and held the NWA Texas Hardcore Title four times. He defeated “Spyder” Nate Webb to win the IWA Mid-South King of the Deathmatch in 2002, and won the CZW Tournament of Death in 2005 over Zandig. He had a high profile cameo appearance in the critically acclaimed 2008 movie “The Wrestler” starring Mickey Rourke.

Special thanks to Michigan pro wrestling promoter and original ECW referee A.T. Huck for the pictures.
