Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Chad Wheeler was in the news for all the wrong reasons this morning after the story broke out of him getting arrested for attempted murder of his girlfriend in Seattle this past weekend. He was released from jail early Tuesday.

And this morning on Good Morning Football (GMFB), former wide receiver Nate Burleson chimed in his thoughts live on air, going off script breaking the story.

“I just wish we had to wait until the end of the show for this. I know I’m catching you off guard right now, but I won’t go three hours without mentioning this (story),” the former Seattle Seahawk said.

“Domestic violence is a small reflection of the NFL right now, like it’s more good guys and bad guys, but it’s also a reflection of our society. There’s no room in our society for that, I just hope that the authorities in Seattle and the NFL handle this properly.”

Wheeler was taken into custody with felony assault and domestic violence charges at his residence in Kent, Washington, a suburb south of Seattle after authorities said they believe that she refused to bow down to him.

Wheeler’s girlfriend suffered facial injuries and was unconscious for a few minutes, then after she woke up, he responded with ‘Wow, you’re alive’ to her.

Good for Burleson here to speak up for what is right especially when GMFB has time to talk about important topics like this. We’re hopeful Wheeler gets extended jail time for this incident, and it is belief that he may not play again after this event.
