Dallas defeated Minnesota 3-1 in Frisco, Texas, on Aug. 29 with Fafa Picault and Jesus Ferreira turning up the 106-degree heat at Toyota Stadium with goals just a minute apart in the first 12 minutes and Reto Ziegler sealing the victory with a penalty kick in second-half stoppage time. But the Toros , who battled Western Conference leading Sporting Kansas City to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 2, will be limping into Allianz Field with a handful of starters battling injuries.

Picault (hamstring) and midfielder Paxton Pomykal (season-ending labrum surgery) missed the draw with Sporting K.C. while three other starters goalie Jimmy Maurer, defender Matt Hedges and midfielder Bryan Acosta .

were subbed out in the first half. Maurer and Acosta have muscle injuries while Hedges had concussion symptoms.Kyle Zobeck, a 30-year-old Iowa native who had one save in his MLS debut after replacing Maurer, is expected to make the start in goal on Wednesday as Dallas tries to extend its unbeaten streak to five games.

“We just have to keep moving forward, and that’s what having a full roster and team is all about,” FC Dallas coach Luchi Gonzalez said, according to mlssoccer.com. “We’ve got a very competitive team. I’d say we have two to three players in every position. And that’s what we’re all about. We’re planning on having guys step up now.”

Minnesota (4-3-2, 14 points), picked up its first home win of 2020 in convincing fashion on Sunday, scoring four second-half goals in a 4-0 victory over Real Salt Lake to snap a four-game losing streak. Robin Lod scored two goals, Dayne St. Clair had three saves in his MLS debut and highly touted attacking midfielder Emanuel “Bebelo” Reynoso, signed on a transfer from Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors, had an assist in his MLS starting debut.

Despite the recent losing streak, the Loons are in third place in the West, just three points behind Sporting K.C.”It was a huge game for us,” Minnesota coach Adrian Heath said. “I was aware of (the losing streak), because the more it carries on, the more people start jumping on the bandwagon. I know what it is. I know what my job is: winning games.”
