In their most recent game, the San Diego Padres had to start Craig Stammen in their Wild Card series clincher due to not having their two best starting pitchers available.

The Padres announced good news today heading into the NLDS against the division rival LA Dodgers, as not only will Mike Clevinger, their big trade deadline acquisition, be available but will be opposing Walker Buehler in Game 1.

Clevinger getting the start is huge for San Diego. He has postseason experience, pitching in the postseason in 2016, 2017 and 2018 for the Cleveland Indians, including the 2016 World Series. Overall in his career, he has a 44-23 record and a 3.19 ERA over 542 frames of work. Over a full season, he averages 208 strikeouts. He’s an ace for San Diego and they need a big game tonight out of Clevinger.
