In a news post by Kendall Bunch of WLUC TV6, Michigan Tech University has released the name of the student who died in a three-car crash last weekend in nearby Michigamme (located in Northern Upper Peninsula).

The victim’s name was 20-year-old Charlotte Jenkins of downstate Fenton. She was a third-year computer engineering student at Michigan Tech.

Last Saturday night at around 6 pm, Jenkins was driving a red 2005 Pontiac Aztec when her car lost control and crashed with two vehicles eastbound on US-41. Her passenger and two others were also injured in the crash.

Jenkins died at the scene of the crash and her passenger was brought to UP Health System Marquette with serious injuries. The two other motorists were taken to Bell Memorial for their injuries.

Michigan Tech had counselors available Monday for students. Jenkins served as a resident assistant for the Women in Engineering community at McNair Hall and was involved with Residence and Housing Services on campus.
