New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas will undergo surgery on the torn deltoid and other injury ligaments in his high ankle this offseason. Thomas played last weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with multiple injuries because he knew it may be the last chance he gets to compete with his Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, who plans to retire this off-season per Jay Glazer.

Thomas missed most of this season because of injuries and off-field punishments, he finished the season with 40 receptions, 438 yards and no touchdowns over the course of seven games. In just 2019, Thomas had 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns. After reading this news it makes me respect Michael Thomas even more, he played for his team even though his body couldn’t, even though he finished the game with 0 catches his decision has to be appreciated by his teammates. Hopefully the former pro-bowl wide receiver can bounce back next year after a tough 2019.
