Texas-based indie pro wrestling announcer Matt Topolski released a statement today saying he was permanently moving on from the business after all of the events in the nation the last two weeks. He said they have weighed on him personally.

Topolski started his pro wrestling broadcasting career in NWA Houston then moved on to be the play-by-play man and executive producer for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling the past seven years. He and color commentator Brad Gilmore became a duo with such great chemistry they got picked up by the Title Match Network streaming service to call the “Ladies Night Out” all-women special events and other high profile Texas indie shows that TMN carries. They were the type of team that made a first time viewer not feel out of the loop to a promotion and its roster because they had such a wealth of knowledge and great preparation. Many fans believed that they were good enough to one day work for WWE or AEW as announcers.

In addition to pro wrestling, Topolski has spent time working in mainstream news and political journalism. He is a staunch and outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and his opinions have been getting him heat from people in the pro wrestling industry increasingly within the last month. He was totally on board with getting Texas reopened amid the virus and wanted it to be reopened even much sooner than it was. He has called out ANTIFA and sports celebrities like LeBron James over their views on the violent protests.
