As of 2:30 pm on Sunday, the Mackinac Bridge has been shut down due to what the Bridge Authority have deemed ‘an emergency situation.’
Many Michiganders didn’t know what exactly what the emergency was, but there is a speculation that a bomb threat was detected on the Bridge and its perimeter. And that bomb threat report has now been confirmed by TV6 & FoxUP.
The situation is still currently under investigation by the Michigan State police, with assistance from the United States Coast Guard.

UPDATE: it is now confirmed. There is an active bomb threat that is happening at the Mackinac Bridge via a Facebook post by Jessica Hatch.
UPDATE #2 – Via MLive.com, following several sweeps and completion of the final search, the Mackinac Bridge has officially reopened as of just after 5:00 pm.
