This has been quite the injury prone year in Major League Baseball. Most recently, star Angels players Mike Trout has been sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a calf strain.

Unfortunately Trout, who is usually a contender for the American League MVP award will likely be out of the running now due to injury.

In other MLB news, it was reported yesterday that Rennie Stennett, one of the well known Pittsburgh Pirates players of the 1970s, died of cancer Tuesday, the team announced. He was 72.

Stennett made his MLB debut in 1971 and quickly became the Pirates second basement.He was instrumental in the Pirates last World Series title win in 1971 with a strong .353 average.
