Kyle Seager was a pending free agent and it was unexpected that he would return to the Seattle Mariners. Instead, Seager decided to make a decision on his baseball future.

The 34-year-old Seager announced his retirement from baseball through his wife’s social media account.

Seager spent his entire 11-year career in baseball with the Mariners, posting a career .251 average with 242mhome runs and 1,395 career hits.

His best season in baseball was in 2016, when he hit .278 with 30 home runs and 99 RBI and finished 12th in the AL MVP voting.

There was some talk of Seager joining his younger brother, Corey Seager, with the Texas Rangers, but instead, the older Seager will enjoy his time away from baseball and with his family.
