On Friday, the Louisiana Health Department released a statement linking over 100 cases of COVID-19 to bars near the campus of Louisiana State University (LSU).

A group of bars, known locally as “Tigerland” is believed to be a major contributor to an outbreak of cases in the Baton Rouge area according to health officials.

Officials also issued a warning to anyone who recently visited these bars within the past 7 days due to multiple employees testing positive for the virus. Anyone patronizing Tigerland last weekend should self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.

Owners of at least three bars have confirmed they have employees who have tested positive for the coronavirus. These bars include JL’s Place, Reggie’s, and Fred’s. All popular destinations for young adults.

The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed they are investigating possible COVID-19 outbreaks at JL’s Place and Reggie’s bar that may have exposed both employees and customers to the virus.

All three bars announced they will be closed this weekend.
