The Detroit Lions have fought off trade rumors and stood pat at No. 7 and have selected Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

The pick ultimately completes the overhaul of the offensive line built with now with three first-round picks. Those picks include offensive tackle Taylor Decker (2016), center Frank Ragnow (2018), and now in offensive lineman Penei Sewell (2021).

Sewell will be joining an offense that will have a new look coming into this season. He and the now-revamped offensive line will help protect new Lions quarterback Jared Goff, running back D’Andre Swift, Pro Bowl tight end TJ Hockenson, and wide receivers Tyrell Williams, Breshad Perriman, and Kalif Raymond.
