Lions Sign QB Matt Cassel

According to reports, the Detroit Lions have found their backup quarterback, Matt Cassel.

Cassel, 35, is a former seventh round pick of the Patriots in 2005.

He spent four years in New England before he was traded to the Chiefs. He lasted another four years there before bouncing around to Minnesota and Dallas.

The Titans signed him to a two year deal last March. He was set to make $1.75 million before the team released him last month.

He appeared in two games in 2017 throwing for 162 yards, with one touchdown, two interceptions, while completing 59.5 percent of passes.

In his career, Cassel has thrown for 17,449 yards, 104 touchdowns, and 81 interceptions. His career passer rating is 78.8.

This is a solid sign as he will reunite with Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia.
