Lions DE Ziggy Ansah Designated as Franchise Player

The Detroit Lions decided to use their franchise tag on DE Ezekiel Ansah, who was expected to be the leagues top free agent pass rusher this upcoming off season.

Ansah, who is coming off a very inconsistent season missed 2 games during the 2017 season due to a back injury, and all of training camp with an ankle injury.

Despite the injury problems he managed to have 12 sacks. Which tied for eighth in the league, including 3, 3 sack games.

Ansah would have been a huge loss to the Lions pass rush if he were to become a free agent, having 44 career sacks, and 207 total tackles in his 73 games played.

It is no question that “Ziggy” has become a premier pass rusher in the league, since being drafted in the first round by the Lions in 2013.

The 29 year old from Accra, Ghana is set to make at least 17 million dollars this season with the franchise tag.
