After signing former WFT and Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar to the secondary, the Detroit Lions have brought in another defensive back to the Motor City.

Announced this Thursday morning via ESPN reporter Field Yates, the Lions have signed former Buffalo Bills safety Dean Marlowe to a one-year deal.

The Pride of Detroit states the former undrafted free agent out of James Madison University spent his first few seasons with the Carolina Panthers as a primary special teams player.

However after joining the Bills, his role has increased. Last season in 2020, Marlowe has played in 15 games and started in four of them. He recorded 22 tackles, two interceptions, and three passes defended in 2020.

Under the leadership of defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and secondary coach Aubrey Pleasent, Marlowe will join a young secondary which includes cornerbacks Amani Oruwariye and Jeff Okudah, and the Lions’ recent addition in Dunbar. Along with Tracy Walker, he is expected to compete with safety Will Harris for a role on the team.
