The 2021/22 NCAA football season is well underway, as we are now into week 13 of the action. Given how many different conferences there are in the NCAA, let alone individual teams, it is always difficult to give a complete update on the goings on in the world of college football. So, we will attempt to cover some of the main topics, with teams who have started the season brightly, and also focus on some of the sides who are already hoping the season will finish as soon as possible.

One side who are in the former camp are the Georgia Bulldogs, who currently are in 1st place in the Top 25 rankings. They have begun this season in frightening form, winning all 11 of their match ups, putting them clear at the top of the SEC East, above the likes of the Kentucky Wildcats and the Tennessee Volunteers. They began the season with a 10-3 win over the Clemson Tigers, and haven’t looked back since, beating the likes of the Arizona Razorbacks, the Florida Gators and the Missouri Tigers along the way, as well as the Wildcats and the Volunteers in recent weeks.

The 20th of November saw them face off against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, who at that point had a 4-5 record. This meant the Bulldogs were the favourites for the oddsmakers, so any fan who placed bets on Georgia to win would have been happy with the outcome, as they eased to a 56-7 victory. Next up is a derby match against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who are currently 3-8. The betting markets indicate this will be another straightforward win for the Bulldogs, so bettors would be wise to find odds on this game before it begins at 5pm on Saturday the 27th.

Buckeyes shooting up the rankings

Another team who have been in top form so far are the Ohio State Buckeyes, who compete in the Big Ten East conference. They have an overall record of 10-1, which puts them just ahead of the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans. Having lost their second fixture of the season, where they were on the wrong end of a 35-28 scoreline against the Oregon Ducks, they have gone from strength to strength, winning their following 9 matches, making them a bettors favourite, as the odds are firmly in their favour on most sports betting websites.

They take on the Wolverines next, in what is sure to be a great game, as it is 2nd (Buckeyes) vs 6th (Wolverines) in the Top 25 rankings.

Anyone looking for NCAAF picks for this game will be wise to back the Buckeyes, as we expect them to keep their winning run going.

Ducks are heading South for the winter, in more ways than one

Given how competitive it is in the Top 25 list, it can only take a single bad result for a side to tumble down the rankings. The Oregon Ducks will be well aware of this now, as they fell 7 places in just one game week. They had started the season strongly, beating the likes of the Washington State Cougars, the Colorado Buffaloes and the UCLA Bruins in recent weeks. However, their most recent game saw them face off against the Utah Utes. It would have been a close one to call in the odds, as the Utes were 7-3 going into this one. The Ducks just couldn’t cope, and were 28-0 down at half time. They did score 7 points in the 3rd quarter, but that was all they could manage, in a very disappointing 38-7 loss.

The good thing for the Ducks is that it is never long until the next fixture, so you can quickly forget about a defeat if you can win the following game. This weekend sees them take on one of their rivals, the Oregon State Beavers. Expect big challenges and controversial moments in this one, but the odds would suggest the Ducks will be the favourites to win in this one.

Can the Panthers break their losing streak?

No team likes losing. To lose just once is bad enough, but suffering 2, 3 or 4 consecutive defeats is incredibly tough to take. Spare a thought for the FIU Panthers, who are currently rock bottom of the Conference USA East, with a record of 1-10. To make matters worse, their sole win of the season was in fact their first game, where they beat the LIU Post Pioneers 48-10. Since then, it has been loss after loss, meaning they are currently on a 10 game losing streak.

The one glimmer of hope on the horizon is in their next game, against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, they are up against another side who have lost the majority of their matches. They have a record of 2-9, which is hardly much better than the Panthers. The odds for this one are close, so we hope that FIU can find a way to break their streak, and to enjoy a victory again.
