Soldic enters the matchup on a four-bout winning streak that began with him reclaiming the welterweight crown with a third-round KO of current UFC talent Dricus Du Plessis at KSW 45. Most recently, he outpointed Michael Peitzak in a catchweight affair at KSW 50 in September 2019.

Materla, who reigned as KSW’s middleweight champ from May 2012 to November 2015, is coming off a second-round stoppage of Aleksandar Ilic at KSW 55 on Oct. 10. The 36-year-old has bested the likes of Paulo Thiago, Rousimar Palhares, Tomasz Drwal, Kendall Grove and Damian Janikowski during his MMA career.

KSW welterweight king Roberto Soldic (17-3) will step up to middleweight to face former champion & KSW legend Michal Materla (29-7) in the main event of KSW 56 on November 14 in Lodz, Poland.

The announcement stunned KSW fans around the world. This contest, between two of the promotion’s top stars, was previously only talked about by fans when speaking about dream fights they’d love to see in the KSW arena. And now it is a reality.

Croatia’s Roberto Soldic is the reigning & defending KSW welterweight champion and has become one of the deadliest finishers in the whole sport with highlight-reel knockout after another. His list of victims includes Borys Mankowski, Dricus Du Plessis, and the previously undefeated Krystian Kaszubowski as well as a first-round one-punch demolition of Brazil’s Vinicius Bohrer. Now Soldic arguably faces his toughest test to date in the bigger and experienced Michal Materla.
