It’s been three months since the 7th Overall pick in the 2020 tore his labrum in his hip, but Killian Hayes is officially back. Pistons fans should be elated as the Frenchman will be able to continue his on-court development to finish out the rest of the season, and hopefully end on a high note heading into the off-season and into next year. Hayes has only notched 7 games games so far under his belt, averaging 4.6 ppg. Despite his struggles scoring the ball, he did show some flashes and looked good on the defense. Coach Dwane Casey specifically mentioned his ability to defend the pick-and-roll.

Killian said that despite not being able to play, watching from the sidelines has given him a different perspective and slowed the game down for him. Even during the games, Casey would quiz him about what he saw on the court and what he do in those certain situations. It’s likely that Coach will ease him back, with either having him coming off the bench or pairing him with another guard. It’ll be a fun game to watch tonight as the rookie will be going head-to-head against his former mentor D-Rose. I also personally can’t wait to see all of our rookies gel together, as Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Saben Lee have all had impressive seasons so far. Especially Bey, who most people have as one of the Top 5 rookies so far this season.
