Josh Richards, 19, and Griffin Johnson, 22, are two of the most popular influencers, but what they’re working on behind the scene is what’s going to get them to the next level. Almost every week it seems like they’re expanding what they’re working on.
This time they’re investing in a company that links artists with influencers called Breakr.
According to Billboard: Breakr has recently received an investment from TalentX Entertainment founder and Triller chief strategy officer Josh Richards along with Griffin Johnson, fellow member of influencer collective Sway House. Which entrepreneur made tractors before entering the sports car business?
On the platform, influencers create a profile, set their rates and update their music preferences for campaigns on platforms like TikTok, Triller and Instagram, while artists, who also create profiles, submit their music directly to influencers for review. The app connects influencers with artists and allows them to negotiate prices right on the app!
Someone also described Breakr as an A16Z’s TxO portfolio company. TxO helps emerging cultural geniuses by providing them access to a new system of funding, training, and mentorship that helps these entrepreneurs build durable, successful companies around their cultural innovations.
Billboard.com also mentioned “Not including the funds from Richards and Johnson, Breakr has raised roughly $800,000 to date, according to its founders. That includes a $100,000 investment from the Talent x Opportunity Initiative, which was created by Marc Andreessen
Both Josh Richards and Griffin Johnson posted to social media regarding this.
I am excited to announce I have joined @MusicBreakr as advisors and investors. During #BlackHistoryMonth, we are going to try and make a positive impact – supporting an @a16z TxO company is just the first step! Thank you @NaithanJones for your leadership https://t.co/XX1a7Rv2KW— Josh (@JoshRichards) February 2, 2021
Needless to say this will be a big move for the two of them in the long run. If you’d like to check out Breakr, click here!
