The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 34-6 on Sunday to improve to 7-2 on the season and move into first place in the NFC East.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts set three NFL records in his team’s blowout win over the Cowboys.
Hurts’ two rushing touchdowns give him 10 for the season, which makes him the first quarterback in league history to have 10+ in four different seasons.
Hurts is now the only quarterback in NFL history with consecutive seasons of 10+ rushing touchdowns.
Hurts also became the first QB in NFL history with a pass touchdown, rush touchdown, and 100+ passer rating in four consecutive games.
With the Eagles win over the Cowboys, Hurts is now 34 and 11 in his last 45 starts, which is the second best record in the entire NFL during that time. Only Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has a better record.
Hurts went 14 of 20 passing for 202 yards with two touchdowns and a 115.0 passer rating for the Eagles in their win over the Cowboys, while also having seven carries for 56 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Hurts and the Eagles got off to a sluggish start as he was sacked five times for 46 yards, threw an interception and a lost fumble at the Cowboys 6-yard-line.
Hurts then turned it on and put the Cowboys away with another good performance. Hurts had been playing mistake free football over the last 4 games, but for some reason the local and national media critique everything that he does.
Other quarterbacks in the NFL are not picked apart and ripped like Hurts is. It doesn’t make sense. He consistently wins and makes big plays in those victories.
Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2022 and arguably had one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history in his team’s loss to the Chiefs.
Hurts is playing at MVP level this season and everything he does is nit picked and put under a microscope. He currently has the fourth shortest odds to win NFL MVP at 14-1 behind only Lamar Jackson (+110), Josh Allen (+360), and Patrick Mahomes (+650), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Jalen Hurts continues to win and shine. Maybe, at some point, people will realize that he’s a damn good quarterback.
