On Friday night, the Memphis Grizzlies squared off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, we all know both of these team’s stink and usually aren’t much to talk about, but in this game, something special almost happened. Yes, almost happened.

Ja Morant is only 6’3” and weighs 174 pounds, but the man has hops. With 6:50 left in the first quarter, Ja went one on one with Cavs’ power forward, Kevin Love. Everyone in the building watched as Morant took flight, looking to add another poster to his resume.

Morant literally jumped over Love, taking off only a few feet in front of the free throw line. Love was standing straight up attempting to draw a charge, so Morant was forced to clear the forward’s 6’10” frame. Unfortunately, he missed the dunk, launching the ball off the back iron, clipping Love with his thigh on the way down.

Kevin was quick to let everyone know his thoughts on the failed dunk attempt. He wrote on his twitter, “Ja almost ended my professional career with this dunk…that kid is something special.” He is correct in saying both of these things. The Cavs won the game 114-107, but this game will only be remembered by the dunk that almost was.
