J.T. Realmuto To Undergo Knee Surgery

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will have surgery on his right knee and has been placed on the 10 day injured list, as per John Clark NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Realmuto has been dealing with knee soreness and will be undergoing right knee meniscectomy surgery tomorrow in Philadelphia.

Realmuto is having a good season with 7 homers, 20 RBIs and .261 batting average. He is a three-time All-Star and was possibly on his way to another appearance in this year’s game.

The Phillies have not said how much time that Realmuto will miss. They have recalled catcher Rafael Marchan from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place on the roster.

This is a big loss for the Phillies. Realmuto’s backup, Garrett Stubbs, has a .173 batting average in 19 games this year.
