WOW, talk about some big news on an early Friday morning. The Houston Texans and J.J. Watt have agreed to part ways. The best defensive player in Texans history is now gone. Watt is a three-time defensive player of the year, a five-time first-team all-pro, and led the league in sacks twice. Watt is a beast and has been the face of the Texans for years. Going to be so weird to see Watt on a different team.

Watt has had trouble staying healthy over the last few seasons, playing a combined 16 games in 2016, 2017, and 2019. This past season was Watt’s second full healthy season since 2015. Even with all the injuries, Watt is by far the best defensive player in Houston history. Watt has 101 career sacks by far the most in Texans history. Number two is Whitney Mercilus with 54.

The Texans continue to be more and more of a mess. The Texans won’t have J.J Watt next season and probably won’t have Deshaun Watson. Plus, no first round pick either. Straight up dumpster fire. Can’t blame Watt for not wanting to be part of this rebuild.
