As announced all over social media, Upper Peninsula boys basketball prospect and high school senior Foster Wonders has officially signed his National letter of intent to play at Division I Southern Illinois University.

As a native of Iron Mountain, Wonders will come into his senior year off earning his second-straight Mr. U.P. Basketball honors. Also mentioned in the tweet below, he will join the Salukis as one of the top prospects in the state of Michigan.

Via the Iron Mountain Daily News, Foster has scored over 1,600 points in his career and he has a chance to break the U.P.’s all-time scoring record mark at 2,178 points set by St. Ignace’s Gage Kreski (2013-16).

Last season as a junior, Wonders averaged 27.4 points per game, on route to earning 604 points on the season. He also has recorded 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2 steals per game each.

After graduating from high school, Wonders will join his brother, Carson, and his family who have all played in collegiate athletics.

Carson currently is on the roster for Northern Michigan University (NMU) Wildcats, while his and Foster’s parents, Julie (Heldt) and Matthew Wonders, also played at NMU.

Julie was inducted into the NMU Hall of Fame back during the 2019-20 season after playing women’s basketball for the Wildcats.
