Microsoft brings Halo to Steam, pigs fly

In a real ‘when pigs fly’ moment, Microsoft announced it’s bringing the “Master Chief Collection” to PC, as revealed by a steam page for the game although release date nor price is listed. Not only does it include the five games (Halo, Halo 2, ODST, 3 and 4) Halo: Reach is also going to be thrown in which takes this already incredible news and just dumps cherries on top. Reach will be the first one to released, as it seems like while the collection is available the option to buy titles separately will be there.  According to developer 343 Industries, this is “ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed.”

This is great for Steam because with the news revolving around Epic Games and their store (including how Division 2 will potentially be an Epic Games store exclusive) they can show the competition that they’re still the big dog. It’ll also be great because aside from some Halo spin-offs like the Halo Wars series or Spartan, a mainline entry hasn’t been on the Valve platform. Personally I’m very hyped up for this, for numerous reasons of course. First up being, there’s no longer a reason to hold onto my Xbox One. For the longest time I’ve held the mindset that I’d eventually buy the collection since it was an exclusive and thus the last reason to hold onto my Xbox (besides YouTube or Netflix). Secondly, there’s a dash of irony because Halo was originally a PC series (which Apple actually had ownership of) which then changed to Console after being bought by Microsoft so it’s good to have the franchise back home.

Though I’ve never played much of the games due to previous reason, I’m stoked to have my chance to as I’m sure a ton of people are. This is Jacob, signing off!
