Houston Texans fire David Culley as their head coach after one season

David Culley was thought to be possibly safe as the head coach of the Houston Texans, as he avoided getting fired on Black Monday and Black Tuesday.

But for Culley, it was Black Thursday for him. The Texans fired Culley as the head coach.

There had been speculation all year long that Culley could be a one-and-done head coach in Houston and they finished 4-13 on the season, which got Houston the third overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Before Culley came to Houston, Bill O’Brien had been the head coach for Houston for almost seven seasons; he was fired mid-season and replaced by Romeo Crennel.

Now Houston joins the Vikings, Bears, Dolphins, Giants and Jaguars as teams who are in need of a head coach.
