High school ‘full-contact’ sports are coming back in Michigan starting next week.

According to multiple posts around social media including a post from State Representative Beau LaFave, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer is expected to announce that full-contact competition for high school sports will be resuming.

LaFave’s post state that contact sports, such as basketball, wrestling, and hockey, are resuming with a few ‘safe safeguards’ that will likely be required regarding concerns due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The news comes just a few days after another Let Them Play rally was set at the Michigan State Capitol last weekend, along with numerous smaller rallies across the state.

There was also a lawsuit from Let Them Play Michigan Inc. that was filed against Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for their part in the recent pause, which led to postponements of sports seasons.

The state of Michigan has not participated in any type of contact sports, since its start of the pause since this past November.
