Heartwarming Moment: Baraga and Calumet Girls’ Unite to Help Special Needs Player Score!
During tonight’s middle school girls’ basketball game between the Baraga Vikings and the Calumet Copper Kings, there was a beautiful moment that embodied the true essence of sportsmanship, something that we don’t see enough.
A special needs player had the opportunity to score, and after a couple of missed shots, an opponent passed back the rebound, giving her another chance to make the basket—and she nailed it!
The crowd erupted with cheers, celebrating this incredible act of kindness on the court. Robin Chosa captured this heartfelt moment on video, and it has since touched many hearts. What a moment and what great coaching by both sides! Not only great coaching, but amazing parenting from all the kids that helped in this amazing moment.
“Show of some good sportsmanship by the teams tonight. Love too see this!” is what Robin captured his post and that is exactly correct.
One comment summed it up perfectly: “Love this! Such good sportsmanship and proud of both teams. Thanks for sharing! This makes my heart happy, and it is a great way to end my evening.”
What a fantastic moment for #34, and an inspiring example set by these young athletes.
