During a special Friday night game against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Maryland Terrapins suffered a big blow to their special teams. And it was caught live on TV.

On a kick return, Maryland wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. had a leg injury in which could rival New York Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates’s injury from a couple weeks ago.

As you can see in the video below, Demus Jr’s leg looked to bending in half literally as he was getting tackled by Hawkeyes defensive back Sebastian Castro.

It really didn’t look good on the camera footage, but we can bet it looked and felt worse on the field.

However as Demus Jr was being carted off to the locker room, he shouted out to the Terps’ student section ‘I’m coming back.’

That may have been his last snap as a Terp as he is a senior, but hopefully he lives up to his word and comes back for one more season after the injury like his. Wishing Dontay a speedy recovery as he heals up from that injury, it looked bad.
