The Yankees third baseman Giovanny Urshela, who hit .298/.368/.490 with 6 homeruns in 2020, has gone under the knife for elbow surgery earlier today. The surgery reportedly went well and the procedure was to remove a bone chip from within his right elbow.
The team noted that he will need up to three months to recover, however, some recover from this process in as few as six weeks. Either way, Urshela doesn’t look like he’ll miss ample time, if he misses any at all. In the off change that he does, Miguel Andujar could man third base, as he once seemed like a long-term fixture at the position going forward, but has had injury issues of his own. In 650 plate appearances as a Yankee, Urshela has broken out to hit 27 homeruns, with a .310/.358/.523 slashline. PSE wishes Urshela the speediest of recoveries.
