Gerrit Cole On Pitching in Game 5 “The Stakes. They’re High”

With the Yankees winning tonight 5-1 and tie the series up 2-2 against the Tampa Bay Rays they hand the ball to their ace Gerrit Cole. This is exactly what you want if you’re the Yankees having the ability to give the ball to one of the best pitchers in baseball is something you can take comfort in. In Game 1 of the ALDS Cole went six innings struck out seven and only gave up two earned runs. The Rays in the regular season hit Cole well out of any other team in baseball but this is the playoffs the games mean more and he may dig deep and show why he is the best in the game. Cole was asked on why he likes pitching in Game five and he gives an answer he is only capable of giving.

The stakes. They’re high. Thats my ace laser focused killer. The Yankees brought him in to pitch big games in October and no bigger game than an elimination game to advance. I haven’t really felt good all series against the Rays expect in Game 1 and even though I am nervous for tomorrow I feel a little better knowing Cole is going on the mound tomorrow night. Hopefully the bats are a life tomorrow and Cole will do his thing. Lets go Yanks.
