After being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will be staying within the NFC South.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that McCoy signed a one-year-deal with the Carolina Panthers, worth up to $8 million.

Confirmed in the tweet below, the deal could be up to $10 million based on incentives.

Leading up to the signing, the Panthers released offensive tackle Matt Kalil and restructured wide receiver Torrey Smith’s contract to make room for McCoy.

McCoy will join a defensive line squad consisted of notable players such as Dontari Poe, Kawann Short, rookie Brian Burns, and Mario Addison.

Linebackers Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson will be lining up making plays behind him.

McCoy does not return to Tampa Bay this upcoming season as the Panthers play the Bucs at home in Week 2 and in London as the away team in Week 6.
