If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the latest Gears of War game from The Coalition and Microsoft, you just might be in luck. The developer and publisher behind the latest chapter of the series, Gears 5, have revealed a forthcoming Multiplayer Technical Test, which is set to launch a little later this month. It’s set to start on July 19 through 21 and July 26 through 29, on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

With this test, fans will be able to test out multiplayer across Arcade, Escalation and King of the Hill game modes, as well as a Bootcamp mode, in case they need to get their feet wet and try a few things out. There will also be a small taste of the Tour of Duty mode, in case they want to see what’s to come.

Now, there is one thing you need to do in order to access the Multiplayer Test. You’ll have to have already pre-ordered Gears 5 to some extent. That means having pre-ordered the game through some retailer, or through an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Now, for some, this shouldn’t be a problem, as Microsoft previously offered a nifty upgrade system in which you could get an upgrade to Xbox Live for just $1 that automatically turned your subscription into Xbox Live Ultimate. If you did that, then you should automatically be set to go when the multiplayer test kicks off in just a couple of weekends.

If you didn’t do this, however, don’t fret, as you still have time to get your pre-orders in and take part in the Multiplayer Test. You can still order the digital versions online through the Xbox Live Marketplace, or take part with a number of participating retailers and pre=-order your version that way. Or upgrade your current Xbox Live subscription still and get the Game Pass program that way, as you can access a number of games anyway and still get Gears 5, as well as other new releases, with that anyhow. You still win out.

Exact times haven’t been given for the beta just yet, but we’ll have that information soon enough. Don’t miss out on this party!

Gears 5 releases on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on September 10, 2019.
