The Gears 5 tech test is just about ready to wrap up. And all weekend long, multiplayer fans have been running through what the game has to offer – and it’s a pretty good amount of stuff. But this is merely the beginning, as the full game will have a lot to offer when it debuts in just under a couple of months.
While speaking with Game Informer, Ryan Cleven, who serves as the game’s multiplayer design director, explained, “Gears 5 is the largest Gears of War to date. It’s the largest campaign ever made, the largest PvE ever made, the largest versus ever made. The team at The Coalition is an extremely talented but focused team that believes in this game.”
He also talked about the mentality that the team put into upping its game from the previously released Gears of War 4. “They’re extremely passionate about bringing their mark, a high degree of quality, and a legacy that Gears fans will recognize. There is no magic bullet; it’s trusting the people around you. [Studio head Rod Fergusson] has this saying he repeats every time we start a new project: ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ That’s something we really believe in at the studio. We believe in trusting each other so we can get efficiency out of that.”
There’s more info to come on the single player campaign on the months ahead. But for now, there’s still a few hours left to dig into the multiplayer and see what it’s all about. And we highly suggest doing so!
Gears 5 launches on September 10 for Xbox One and Windows 10 (PC).
