It has been announced today that former Upper Peninsula high school basketball star, Jason Whitens, is transferring from Western Michigan to Michigan State as a preferred walk-on.

Via MSU beat reporter Justin Thind on Twitter, the Powers North Central High School alumnus is set to join the Spartans roster after starting 47 games in Kalamazoo.

Whitens finished his 2020-21 season with the Broncos recording 5.4 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game. He also accounted for 24 assists, two blocks, and seven steals.

He will be joining the MSU roster that is coached by fellow Yooper and 2000 National Champion in head coach Tom Izzo.
