The coronapocalypse comedy gold continues, this time with protestors fighting for their right to get COVID-19 and facing counter-protests by medical personnel. According to an article by the UK’s Daily Mail:

Healthcare workers clashed with anti lockdown protesters in Colorado on Sunday, defiantly standing in front of the cars of demonstrators who flocked to the state Capitol in their hundreds to urge Gov. Jared Polis to lift COVID-19-induced stay-at-home orders.

Titled ‘Operation Gridlock’, the day’s largest demonstration took place in Denver, where hundreds of protesters ignored social distancing guidelines to huddle together on the lawn of the state Capitol, waving flags emblazoned with slogans such as ‘Your “health” does not supersede my right’, ‘Freedom over fear’, and ‘I would rather risk coronavirus than socialism’.

Only in America!

Puzzled Protestors. The Colorado protest saw healthcare workers dressed in scrubs and facemasks counter-protesting against the Operation Gridlock gang by standing in front of their vehicles. In one case, a protestor decided to get out of their car and confront a male health care worker. Just imagine what would happen if the protestor attacked the male health care worker only to get beat down for their trouble? Throw in the added likelihood of a post-arrest “resisting arrest” scuffle and it’s easy to imagine the would-be assailant requiring surgery. Can you imagine the warm reception the clueless clod would get in the O.R.?

Are you the asshat who attacked a nurse?

Truth be told, there’s no doubt that people around the world are likely upset with the quarantine orders going on and it’s not just Americans who are doing so (and it’s certainly not all Americans). It’s understandable that people who cannot go to work (especially those who are ineligible for unemployment benefits) want to get back into the workforce. It’s a situation that needs to be remedied and remedied fast.

I prefer to be on friendly terms with medical staff

At the same time, it’s hard to believe that the government is actively keeping people home in some sort of effort to sabotage the economy or heaven forbid, bring in socialism (especially if it means health insurance, paid family leave, paid sick leave, and other benefits people are quickly discovering are lacking in many jobs).

The problem with this situation is that some people seem ready to take a chance with the coronavirus spreading and taking out a nice-size chunk of the population rather than heeding health care professionals’ advice. Personally, I’d rather take the advice of medical doctors than a talk-radio host or Johnny (or Jane) Yahoo on social media. My personal mantra has always been, “In God we trust, all others pay cash.” When it comes to my health, I’d rather trust a medical doctor like “America’s Doctor” Tony “No Baloney” Fauci than Johnny Fuqnuts listening to “the inside scoop” on YouTube.

And speaking of “America’s Doctor,” what does Doc Fauci have to say about the protestors?

Definitely the biggest bunch of stupid motherfuckers I’ve seen since a Fansided staff meeting *

*After fact-checking, it turns out this statement was not made by Dr. Fauci (although he’d likely say so if he wasted his time reading their site)

Here’s what Dr. Fauci had to say:

“I think the message is that, clearly, this is something that is hurting from the standpoint of economics, from the standpoint of things that have nothing to do with the virus,” Fauci said. “But unless we get the virus under control, the real recovery, economically, is not going to happen.”

I pledge to give people something to think about during the coronapocalypse
