Falcons Sign New QB, What Does This Mean For Matt Ryan

The Atlanta Falcons have just announced they’ve signed QB AJ McCarron. McCaron was signed by Atlanta to backup Matt Ryan.

McCarron who has been a career backup has spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders throughout the course of his seven year career. He played college ball at Alabama, McCarron won three national titles and then was selected in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Falcons fans thought there was a chance they’d draft a backup QB for Ryan but instead it seems like they’ll be rolling with AJ McCarron as the backup. This doesn’t change much if you’re Matt Ryan. You get a guy who you know isn’t coming for your starting job unless something crazy happens. But you get a backup who has shown what he can do.

McCarron has completed 62.6% of his career passes for 1,173 yards and six touchdowns compared to three interceptions.

Atlanta picked Kyle Pitts during the first round of the draft, click here to read more!
