Ennio Morricone, Composer of Over 500 Pieces of Music, Passes Away at 91 #RIP

Spread the love

Ennio Morricone was one of the worlds longest running composers. He composed many songs for many films. Here are some of those films.

Now I know what your thinking, why am I doing a blog on an extremely old composer? I’ve never heard any of his compositions? Well… I’ll tell you right now, you’ve heard his most popular composition. Here is a Modelo advertisement with his most popular compositions called, “The Ecstasy of Gold” from The Good, The bad, and The Ugly.

Not many composers get “covered,” musicians often cover other people’s songs. Ennio Morricone has only one that I can find and it’s done by Metallica! They Covered “The Ecstasy of gold” too!

I learned about this version through one of my favorite SiriusXM shows “The Jason Ellis show.” Yes, the pro skateboarder. He would often close the show with this song, riffing words together to make you burst out laughing. But when the song would finish…he would dial down his volume to respect the finish of this beautiful gem. I know he hasn’t done this in years, but since the composer died, can’t we get one more rendition to pay respects to the man? Either way RIP to one of the great ones in composition music!
