The Philadelphia Eagles are experimenting with playing defensive tackle Jalen Carter an edge-rusher to find mismatches on the defensive line.
Carter was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Eagles. He put together an impressive rookie season last year.
Carter finished the year with 33 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is looking to maximize Carter’s talent.
Carter is eager and ready to whatever is asked of him. “It’s good. It’s fun,” Carter said, via Jeff Kerr of CBSSports.com. “I actually haven’t been on the edge that much, but I always tell them if you need me anywhere, we got a package for it when I’m on the edge, and we’ll see what happens.”
The Eagles already have edge rushers Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, and Nolan Smith. Adding Carter to mix will give the defense even more options and flexibility.
The future is bright for Jalen Carter and I look for him to have a big season.
