A double shooting at the home of Federal Judge Esther Salas Sunday night lead to the death of her son and left her husband in critical condition. We are now learning new details about the shooting as well as a high-profile case recently assigned to Judge Esther.

According to New Jersey Police, Judge Salas was at her home Sunday afternoon when someone came to the door dressed as a FedEx driver. When Judge Salas’ husband opened the door, the suspect fired multiple shots into the residence. The suspect then fled on foot.

Judge Salas has served in the US District court for nine years. Prior to this appointment, she spent five years as a magistrate judge, and nine years in the public defender’s office. Her husband is also a well-regarded criminal defense attorney.

Although no direct evidence has been brought to light to show this shooting is in any way related to Jeffrey Epstein, some have called it very ironic the Judge’s home was targeted only 4 days after the Deutsche Bank-Jeffrey Epstein civil case was assigned to her court.

Many questions still remain surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, was it a suicide or a homicide? Many individuals with close ties to Epstein and to the investigation have also died suddenly or mysteriously.
