“Everybody has their own obstacles they have to get over. I can’t put it into words. It doesn’t feel real.” Devin Williams was a failed starting pitching prospect in the minors, had Tommy John, among other things on his way to the Majors as a reliever.

Devin Williams, set up for the Brewers, was stellar. He is the first pitcher to ever win ROTY without a save or a start. His ERA was 0.33, giving up just one run on July 27th. It was the lowest ERA of any rookie since 1913. He struck out 53% of his opponents.

He won over the other two finalists with 91 votes to 74 (Cronenworth and Bohm tied). Tied for fourth was Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May, the two LA Dodger rookie starters.

PSE congratulates Devin Williams!
