Former NASCAR Busch (now Xfinity) Series Champion and two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and his family were reported to be involved in a plane crash this afternoon in Carter County, Tennessee.
The plane carrying the 44-year-old and his family were traveling to Bristol in preparation for this weekend’s night race at the famous short race track.
In a tweet by Dale Jr.’s sister Kelley Earnhardt, the now-NASCAR on NBC analyst along was his wife Amy, their one-year-old daughter, Isla, and two other pilots were on the plane by the time it crashed.
I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Elizabethton Fire Chief Barry Carrier has confirmed all of the passenger including Earnhardt Jr. and his family are all safe and have escaped the crash site.
They were all taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
