For years now, fans have debated Marvel vs. DC. In my mind, it is an easy victory for Marvel, as DC has lost considerable ground in the past decade. However, here is the kicker – my favorite superhero is Batman. See how I’m kinda stuck? It’s like picking your favorite child or your favorite item off the $1 menu at McDonalds. You just can’t do it!

Well, here is another major reason why DC is losing goodwill from fans.

Things were kicked up a notch a few days ago when the co-creator of the HBO Max Harley Quinn series Justin Halpern was talking about his creative freedom with Variety. Here is the quote that jumped off the page:

“In this third season of Harley, we had a moment where Batman was going down on Catwoman, and DC was like, ‘You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that.’ They’re like, ‘Heroes don’t do that.’”

Huh. Well, that is interesting. I suppose the reasoning did make some sense. He continued to talk about how they sell consumer toys, and you certainly can’t do that when Batman is going down on someone. Sounds ridiculous, right? Lucky for all of us, that closing line will live in infamy.

Heroes don’t do that.

Let’s take a look at the response because it came fast and furious…

Maybe we need to hear from Christian Bale or Halle Berry or somebody else that has portrayed Batman or Catwoman? Bottom line – this all feels like great press for HBO Max and the Harley Quinn series I have admittedly never watched or even heard of. Thus, here is your free advertisement! Go watch it…and maybe a sex scene will break out? Or maybe not.
